Camouflage is a major survival instinct for many animals out there but few are as practised at it as the chameleon. With the ability to change colours and remain completely motionless, the chameleon uses camouflage extremely effectively. It is probably this feature of Vypr VPN which has enabled its survival in the cut-throat world of internet security and concealment. Exclusive to Vypr VPN, Chameleon technology encrypts and scrambles information, ensuring all metadata is disguised, even when advanced technological approaches, such as deep packet inspection, areutilised. This feature is particularly advantageous for users operating within countries such as China or Iraq where political pressures have called for a restriction on accessible content. In its original form, Ultrasurf VPN set out to ensure users in China could access the internet more freely – an altruistic move it would appear. Unfortunately, Ultrasurf is no longer operating, leaving it to the likes of Zenmate and Vypr to ensure freedom of information for users stuck behind the Great Firewall of China.

 The Bottom Line

While Zenmate offers a competitive pricing policy, being situated within the ’14 eyes’ group of nations, means it could, theoretically, be forced into handing over confidential information. Compared to Vypr, Zenmate is the proverbial dunce in the corner, offering little in the way of technical controls for encryption levels and failing to provide the all-important kill switch. Its privacy policy also lacks transparency, which will leave the chameleons among us motionless and flashing colours in a panic of possible exposure.

Interestingly, if you compare VyprVPN with ExpressVPN, which is our top ranked vpn, you'll see that VyprVPN can learn a lot from ExpressVPN. Compare VyprVPN with ExpressVPN
