ZenMate and AirVPN are two very different VPN service providers, although they do share some basic similarities. ZenMate offers around 300 servers in 30+ countries, while AirVPN has a comparably sized network of about 200 servers in around 20 countries. Both providers are known for offering strong encryption and support for P2P. Other key similarities include the fact that both VPNs provide unlimited bandwidth and support for up to five simultaneous device connections per subscription. ZenMate and AirVPN are also both capable of unblocking numerous streaming platforms worldwide, including US Netflix. The differences between these two VPNs become clear when you look at their apps. ZenMate offers very user-friendly dedicated apps for most popular platforms, including MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. AirVPN, on the other hand, offers apps for only MacOS and Windows, and these lack the user-friendliness that ZenMate provides. In addition, while ZenMate offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on all new subscriptions, AirVPN only provides refunds within three days of purchase. And only ZenMate provides advanced features like malware protection. Further differences emerge when we compare these VPNs category by category.

ZenMate has been a popular VPN for 10+ years, especially with its free browser extensions. It offers low prices and many appealing features like streaming servers and fast speeds. But none of this matters if it can’t keep you safe, so I decided to find out if it really can. After my tests, I can say ZenMate is a safe VPN offering great value. It works great for streaming, has fast speeds at cl...

    Good experience

No matter your location, using a VPN is important for your online security. I got ZenMate for exactly ... that and I am satisfied with it, especially when it constantly improves its service. Customer support helped me so much and I just wanted to say that I've asked for their help a few times. And every time the support was respectful and fast in their response time. Keep it up!More

    Buggy and Unreliable

Good when it works, with a limited number of available servers. However, 1. Does not always connect ... to the fastest server. 2. On the Mac, it does not automatically connect to a server. 3. On iOS, it does connect automatically BUT does not do so consistently. 4. The Mac app has been buggy and not connecting at all, FOR MONTHS. They still have not fixed it.More

AirVPN is a budget-friendly option that claims to provide robust protection against online threats. Plus, it says it offers high-performance servers. But can it really rival the top VPNs, or is the price so low because it’s not that good? After testing all its features, I found that AirVPN is secure, but it can't match the best VPNs. It has many great security features, solid speeds, and work...

I am AirVpn cusomers since 2015, and on my gear works remarkably well

I am working in the biggest country in Asia since 2006. I constantly use AirVpn on my MacBook Pro sinc... e 2015, and on my iPhone - iPad. I never had an issue, of any kind, with it, and I was quite amazed to read the article above. Lately, it is very difficult to get it properly run on iPhone and iPad, but this is more the result of this country where I live in restrictions than the vpn in itself. While in Hong Kong was still working fine, but as soon as I crossed the border troubles started. I will tweak that as soon as I will be out again. In the rest of the world, I never had issues. So I do not give the 5th star just because of my at present troubles using it on my iPhone and iPad. For the rest, I will stick with it.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

ZenMate provides a service you can rely on for user-friendliness, available apps for all major platforms, and an attractive array of innovative features. AirVPN also provides a very secure VPN service without any usage or speed restrictions, and with support for all major encryption protocols.

    Best VPN for Torrents

AirVPN supports torrenting on its servers and offers a port forwarding feature for complete anonymity during P2P file-sharing activities. ZenMate also allows torrenting but does not offer port forwarding.

    Best VPN for Windows

By providing a dedicated Windows app that’s easy to adapt to even for VPN newbies, with advanced features like malware protection and unlimited server switching, ZenMate has created a very robust service for Windows. AirVPN’s Windows app doesn’t have a dazzling user interface, but it does provide a very secure service for Windows, featuring strong encryption and unrestricted speed.

    Best VPN for Android

ZenMate offers a dedicated Android app with a very user-friendly interface and access to high-level security features like tracking protection and a kill switch. AirVPN does not provide a dedicated Android app. It can be manually configured using the universal OpenVPN app and relied upon to provide a very secure service, but it lacks a user-friendly interface.

    Best VPN for Mac

ZenMate’s provides a dedicated MacOS app with innovative features like malware blocking and tracking protection. AirVPN also has a powerful MacOS app that features strong encryption, access to its entire server network, and support for OpenVPN over SSH, SSL, or Tor.

    Best VPN for iOS

The best things about ZenMate’s service for iOS users are an intuitive interface that’s easy to adapt to and access to features like malware blocking and wi-fi protection. AirVPN’s lack of a dedicated iOS app is a major letdown for Apple device users, but the VPN does support manual configurations, which still give you the benefit of its strong 256-bit encryption.

    Best VPN for USA

ZenMate is ideal for unblocking US content – including Netflix – from anywhere worldwide, and offers more than 70 dedicated US servers for this purpose. Although AirVPN has fewer US servers, the entire network has built-in smart technology that allows those servers to unblock Netflix-US from any location worldwide.

    The Bottom Line

ZenMate is a more complete VPN service and easily wins this comparison for that reason. Apart from its effective support for P2P, AirVPN’s service is somewhat limited by comparison, especially with regard to availability of mobile apps. ZenMate’s provision of dedicated apps for all major platforms, its ease of use, and its broader array of innovative features are just a few of the reasons why ZenMate scoops up the prize for this contest.
