Note: Buffered VPN has joined forces with StrongVPN and we'll refer to it as StrongVPN in this comparison.

With cybercrime as intense as ever, it’s no surprise that the number of VPN service providers is constantly proliferating. However, that’s not to say they all do what it says on the package. At first glance, PureVPN, StrongVPN, and Anonine seem to cover the basics with features like a kill switch, split tunneling, military-grade 256-bit encryption, and multiple secure VPN protocols.

A visit to Anonine’s website will emphatically guarantee that its service is always anonymous, with no logs kept. Dig a little deeper, however, and its privacy policy is decidedly vague. Given that Anonine prides itself on anonymity and speed over site-unblocking capabilities, this is a little disappointing. StrongVPN has an impressive ability to dodge under the radar of tightly guarded sites, such as Netflix, and makes big claims about speed and versatility. PureVPN, on the other hand, provides a luxury, five-star package with all the appropriate bells and whistles at an industry-standard price.

All three VPN providers also cater to different users when it comes to their pricing packages. Anonine is by far the cheapest option for monthly subscribers, while the other two are more worth it if you can commit to a long-term plan. PureVPN and StrongVPN are also better suited to users who want to protect more devices simultaneously with one subscription.

Also, if you want support at all, then PureVPN and StrongVPN’s 24/7 live chat should get your attention. However, the real differentiator between these VPNs is their server networks, as PureVPN has many more servers in more locations globally than both other VPNs put together.

PureVPN is a highly-rated and affordable VPN, but its had its share of controversies. A past incident involving the FBI caused significant damage to its reputation. So, has it done enough to improve its policies since then? To find out, I did a deep dive into its privacy policy and everything else it offers. I also tested its speeds, thoroughly explored its server network, examined its security ...

An excellent value, all things considered

While they will absolutely throttle p2p in most servers, it's easy to find and log into the p2p server... s. They responded promptly when I had questions (although once it was basically to say "sorry, tough luck"). Overall though, I think I paid something like $20 for a year's subscription - I really can't complain. I'm sold on the service, although I think the fact that it's based out of HK is a bit spooky. 9/10More

Not Private! They cooperate with FBI! Application will NOT CLOSE (only minimizes)

PureVPN COOPERATES WITH FBI INVESTIGATIONS! You can verify this with any search! PureVPN REQUIRES ... USERS TO PROVIDE REAL NAME TO USE THE SERVICE! VPN Does NOT Support Close Application, Against Windows Standards! Close Actually Minimizes and it Keeps Running. Company refuses to change this back (used to operate correctly) A clear violation of your rights as owner of your PC.More

Update: Buffered VPN merged with Encrypt.me. We have thoroughly tested Encrypt.me, and you can find everything you need to know in our review. Buffered VPN has a lot to offer due to its user-friendly interface, fast connection speeds, and reliable security. One thing it can't do is unblock Netflix, you'll need a premium vendor like ExpressVPN for that. In addition to dedicated apps available for ...

Anonine offers competitive pricing for the industry but its low cost had me skeptical from the beginning. There is a tendency to get from VPN services what you pay for them. To explore Anonine’s claims of being the “the best VPN service", I tested every feature and statement the VPN has made. This includes tests for speed, unblocking streaming platforms, security, privacy, network reliability...

    Secure and fast vpn

I have this vpn for everything, on my phone, my PC, my tvbox for streaming, works great, love the kill...  switch option. And with the 2048-bit encryption I feel safe without people spying on me. Anonine customer since 2011

Worth to mention is that Anonine has implemented an automatically renewal subscription button in my ac... count area which needs to be deactivated from the customer in order to prevent further subscriptions. The button is of course placed in a section of the menu which makes it impossible for the customer to recognize it, only when the payment has been deducted will the Anonine user be aware of its existence. Simply despicable if you ask me.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

Although it’s not a whitewash, PureVPN does firmly establish itself as the best overall VPN thanks to its superior server network and user-friendly, yet feature-rich, apps for a variety of devices.

    Best VPN for Torrents

PureVPN is the only VPN among the three that offers servers specifically optimized for P2P, making it our top choice and winner of this category. Even though only some servers specifically support P2P, it works on other servers we’ve tested as well. Although you will sometimes encounter slow speeds while torrenting, having a much larger and globally distributed server list than StrongVPN and Anonine VPN means you have more options to find a faster server near you.

    Best VPN for Windows

Thanks to a clean and modern design, PureVPN’s Windows app is hard to beat, so it's the winner here. Under the hood, all three VPNs are relatively close, with a kill switch, split tunneling, and multiple protocol options. All three support OpenVPN, L2TP, SSTP, IPSec, and IKEv2, but Anonine is the only one that doesn’t feature WireGuard. While StrongVPN has an excellent Windows app, PureVPN is slightly easier to use.

    Best VPN for Android

PureVPN wins this category too. With all the same security features, protocols, and an even more user-friendly interface, it’s no wonder that PureVPN also has the best Android app. The minimal design works well on all types of Android devices, from mobile phones to tablets. Both PureVPN and StrongVPN also have apps available on Amazon Fire TV Stick.

    Best VPN for Mac

The battle is close between PureVPN and StrongVPN, but PureVPN comes slightly on top. Both VPNs' Mac apps are very similar. However, PureVPN’s app is superior because it still features split tunneling, which is only available on StrongVPN’s Android app. Other than that, both give you access to a kill switch and all of their VPN protocols. While Anonine’s interface is on par, it still lacks some overall features as a VPN.

    Best VPN for iOS

Similarly, there aren't many differences between PureVPN and StrongVPN's iOS features, so we give the win to PureVPN based on the merit of being the better overall VPN and having a more enjoyable user interface. With either VPN, the only thing you’ll miss out on is split tunneling, but this is the case for most VPNs on iOS.

    Best VPN for USA

StrongVPN wins this round as it has servers in 15 US cities, which is one more than PureVPN. You also need to check each PureVPN server, as they don’t all support the same protocols. However, PureVPN might still be the better option if you’re in the US and want to connect to a server in another country, as PureVPN is spread across more than double the number of countries than StrongVPN. With far fewer servers than both other VPNs, Anonine doesn’t stand a chance.

    The Bottom Line

Alongside speed and anonymity, connectivity is obviously the name of the game when it comes to VPNs, and PureVPN’s diverse options with worldwide servers and thousands of IP addresses, mean users can enjoy a secure connection with high-speed delivery. It’s not easy to compete with one of the most established players in the VPN game, and, although StrongVPN has given it its best shot, it still comes up short when set against PureVPN, which also leaves Anonine standing on the sidelines.
