CyberGhost and Buffered VPN are two well established and highly rated VPN providers that offer easy-to-use apps, high-speed servers, and very strong encryption. Their apps feature the usual perks available in most top VPNs, including unlimited bandwidth, a kill switch, and a 30-day money back guarantee. Both CyberGhost and Buffered VPN also provide apps for all major operating systems and offer support via a 24/7 live chat channel.

However, Buffered VPN is somewhat lacking in security features. The absence of VPN protocols like PPTP and L2TP/IPSec, which are present in CyberGhost, is a significant shortcoming. Advanced features like ad blocking and malware protection are also available with CyberGhost but absent in Buffered VPN’s apps. Yet the most obvious difference between these two VPN providers is that while Buffered has 45 servers in the same number of countries, CyberGhost manages over 2,700 servers in 60 countries.

CyberGhost is one of the most affordable VPNs on the market — you can get a subscription for as low as $2.03/month. I sometimes assume that price indicates quality, but with VPNs, I've been proven wrong before. So I wanted to see whether CyberGhost can really deliver at such a low price. I did a deep dive into CyberGhost’s privacy policy and security measures to determine whether it’s secu...

I took out the 2-year plan at a fair discount so I can say that, given the price, it's a decent balance of quantity and quality.More

    Pretty good

CyberGhost does not connect automatically in pc when I connect online. Why? And on my phone (Android)...  it sometimes gets stuck, it does not open the app when vpn is working. I have to connect the VPN in my phone settings first. That is pretty annoying.More

Update: Buffered VPN merged with Encrypt.me. We have thoroughly tested Encrypt.me, and you can find everything you need to know in our review. Buffered VPN has a lot to offer due to its user-friendly interface, fast connection speeds, and reliable security. One thing it can't do is unblock Netflix, you'll need a premium vendor like ExpressVPN for that. In addition to dedicated apps available for ...

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

CyberGhost sets itself apart from Buffered VPN overall by providing more advanced features, wider VPN network coverage, and faster connections. Buffered VPN is also fairly reliable, however, and provides similarly strong encryption and apps for all platforms.

    Best VPN for Torrents

If you need a VPN with dedicated high speed servers for torrenting and P2P file-sharing, CyberGhost is the ideal choice. Buffered also supports torrenting on its servers, except in a few locations where the service is restricted. Unfortunately, the loss of even those few servers matters with such a small network.

    Best VPN for Windows

CyberGhost has a Windows app that features malware protection and access to its entire network of servers. The best feature of Buffered VPN’s Windows app is a firewall-based kill switch to block all unsecure traffic and keep users anonymous.

    Best VPN for Android

With CyberGhost’s Android app, users can expect an active ad blocker and flawless access to geoblocked content worldwide. Meanwhile, Buffered for Android has a beautiful design and automatically starts and connects to the last server you used upon startup.

    Best VPN for Mac

CyberGhost offers a very secure service for MacOS, as its dedicated client not only has 256-bit encryption but also uses the OpenVPN, PPTP, and L2TP/IPSec protocols to keep users anonymous. Although Buffered VPN only offers OpenVPN on its MacOS app, it does feature a useful diagnostics tool.

    Best VPN for iOS

With CyberGhost VPN, iOS users can connect up to seven simultaneous devices and also benefit from a 7-day free and unrestricted trial on any subscription they wish to purchase. Buffered also maintains a dedicated iOS app that instantly defeats ISP throttling at the touch of a button.

    Best VPN for USA

If you need superfast US servers in multiple US cities for accessing websites like Netflix, HBO, and local TV networks, CyberGhost is the better choice. Impressively, however, Buffered VPN manages to unblock Netflix and other US content providers from any location worldwide in spite of having only a single US server.

    The Bottom Line

CyberGhost provides a service that’s hard to fault in any area. It’s the outright winner in this comparison for its consistency in providing a very secure service with high speeds, great streaming and torrenting performance, and user-friendly apps across all platforms. It also offers more useful features, like its malware and tracking protection, than Buffered. While both VPNs have 24/7 live support, CyberGhost is known for providing support agents with more technical knowledge.

It’s worth noting that Buffered VPN is also fast and reliable. It simply comes up short when compared with a top-level VPN like CyberGhost.

    FAQ

Is CyberGhost VPN better than Buffered VPN?

Yes, CyberGhost VPN is better overall than Buffered VPN. It has 11690 servers in 100 countries, fast speeds, and impressive security features.

Best of all, you can take advantage of its latest discount and get it for only $2.03 a month.

What should I keep in mind when choosing between CyberGhost VPN and Buffered VPN?

When choosing a VPN, you want to pay close attention to its number of servers, overall speed score, pricing, and the number of simultaneous device connections it offers. While some VPNs provide a flawless online experience, others will really slow you down.

If you’re ready to commit, then CyberGhost VPN may be perfect for you due to its performance during the tests .

Is CyberGhost VPN faster than Buffered VPN?

Yes, CyberGhost VPN is faster than Buffered VPN. Since your VPN is your computer’s main connection to the internet, you need to use a service that won’t slow you down by more than 20%.

If speeds are important to you, then I recommend you take a look at ExpressVPN. It’s the fastest service out there, provides unlimited bandwidth, and you won’t experience any slowdowns even when you connect to the other side of the planet. You can try it out risk-free. It’s backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can get a full refund if you don’t like it.

Do CyberGhost VPN or Buffered VPN offer any deals?

Both CyberGhost VPN and Buffered VPN offer deals on occasion. You can check out the current coupons and discounts here. However, ExpressVPN has the best deals. Right now, you can get a 49% discount and up to 3 months for free with a new subscription.
