CyberGhost and ibVPN are two providers that emphasize security and ease of use across multiple platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, and MacOS. They both offer a kill switch and 256-bit encryption across all their apps and support multiple protocols including OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP, and SSTP. Furthermore, users of either VPN can expect to receive protection from tracking.

The main difference between these two providers is that while CyberGhost focuses on offering just a VPN service, ibVPN offers a Smart DNS and Proxy service in addition to its VPN. CyberGhost’s narrow focus allows the provider to maintain over 2,700 servers in more than 60 countries, whereas ibVPN only has about 200 servers in 47 countries. CyberGhost also offers a 30-day money back guarantee to users and permits up to seven simultaneous device connections. In contrast, ibVPN only allows a single connection per account and offers just a 15-day refund policy.

CyberGhost is one of the most affordable VPNs on the market — you can get a subscription for as low as $2.19/month. I sometimes assume that price indicates quality, but with VPNs, I've been proven wrong before. So I wanted to see whether CyberGhost can really deliver at such a low price. I did a deep dive into CyberGhost’s privacy policy and security measures to determine whether it’s secu...

Great interface and is very intuitive. Many locations with reasonably fast speeds. There are a lot of ... essential features I like as well. Wireguard, Wifi Protect, Etc. I took out the 2-year plan at a fair discount so I can say that, given the price, it's a decent balance of quantity and quality.More

    Pretty good

CyberGhost does not connect automatically in pc when I connect online. Why? And on my phone (Android)...  it sometimes gets stuck, it does not open the app when vpn is working. I have to connect the VPN in my phone settings first. That is pretty annoying.More

Update: Recently, ibVPN merged with StrongVPN. We did indepth testing on StrongVPN, and you can find all the details in our review. ibVPN is a relatively small VPN, with a network of 180+ servers in 50+ countries. The name stands for "invisible browsing" VPN, and true to its name, ibVPN has a strong focus on security and privacy. This provider claims to be a great VPN for many different purposes, ...

Very stable, full option, the top if you look for a good privacy protection option!

I am using ibVPN for about 5 years, and I never had an issue. It perfectly works with many protocols a... llowing me to use the VPN at home (with my DD-WRT router) and in many public places, like airports, even when some port usage is restricted --> Just switching the protocol! The 24h free trial is perfect for checking if the service fits your needs. I highly recommended it!More

Some great features but a lot of drops

I'm a customer since almost 2 years, paying 2.41$ / month. Choose them for the price, no-log policy a... nd because they support upnp/port forwarding (no NAT firewall + dynamic IP on 4 servers in the Netherlands). I always had a big problem with their server: connection drops.. If I use too much bandwidth, I loose the connection and the VPN client is not able to reconnect to the server by itself (I need to reconnect it manually). Same thing happens always with torrent clients and Socks proxy: tried with different clients but after some days or a week (if I'm lucky) their servers kick me out, and a restart of the torrent client is not enough. No!! I need to change manually the server to re-start to torrenting! No problem if we are slow, for that price I'm more than happy.. but all these disconnections are very, very boring. I will stay with them till I will not find something suitable for my needs, but there's too much work from my side to stay with them forever.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

CyberGhost offers more responsive 24/7 live chat support and far more consistency in speed and availability of servers, making it a better VPN overall. However, if its limitations with respect to speed and network coverage will not cause problems for you, ibVPN also offers a fairly reliable VPN service.

    Best VPN for Torrents

CyberGhost is an excellent VPN for torrenting, as it offers dedicated P2P servers with consistently good speeds. Although ibVPN also supports torrenting, such activities are restricted on certain servers.

    Best VPN for Windows

If you need a Windows app with built-in public WiFi and malware protection, CyberGhost is the right choice. Meanwhile, ibVPN also has a Windows app that features its Smart DNS and can be set to automatically connect at startup.

    Best VPN for Android

CyberGhost for Android devices features a 7-day free trial and access to all the provider’s 2,700+ servers worldwide. Meanwhile, ibVPN also supports a dedicated Android app with ISP tracking protection.

    Best VPN for Mac

If you need a MacOS VPN that’s packed with features like DNS/IP leak protection, an automatic kill switch, and 256-bit encryption, choose CyberGhost VPN. The ibVPN MacOS app is also pretty easy to setup, however, and features 256-bit SSL or AES encryption.

    Best VPN for iOS

Whether you own an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or all of these devices, CyberGhost will fully protect you with a dedicated iOS app that’s very user-friendly and allows up to seven simultaneous connections per account. The ibVPN iOS app only supports one connection per account and would not be suitable for users with multiple devices.

    Best VPN for USA

CyberGhost has over 450 US-based servers, which is more than ibVPN’s entire global network, and flawlessly bypasses restrictions from providers like Netflix and Hulu. It also offers a faster service for streaming US content. If you’re not that concerned about connection speed, however, ibVPN does also have some US servers capable of bypassing Netflix’s restrictions.

    The Bottom Line

CyberGhost’s speed, customer support, app functionality, and overall efficiency makes it the clear choice in this rather one-sided VPN comparison. CyberGhost provides comprehensive security for users by not only ensuring their privacy but going the extra mile to protect them from malware. In addition, by allowing up to seven simultaneous device connections per account, CyberGhost is a far more cost-efficient VPN than ibVPN.
