IPVanish has a track record of providing a VPN service that’s feature packed, secure, and capable of bypassing geoblocks worldwide. Meanwhile, ibVPN is known for combining a VPN and Smart DNS into one robust and secure service. If you’re interested in trying the product, IPVanish offers a 7-day money-back guarantee, compared to ibVPN’s 15-day refund policy. One other notable difference between these providers is that IPVanish offers a faster service, making it a good choice for streaming in high definition.

However, IPVanish and ibVPN offer similar services in terms of tunneling options, with both supporting the OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP, and SSTP protocols. They both use 256-bit encryption and have a kill switch in all their apps, which include dedicated clients for every major operating system – Windows, iOS, MacOS, and Android. Both VPNs also support torrenting and are capable of unblocking Netflix-US in different fashions.

Scroll down to see which VPN outperforms the other across several categories.

IPVanish offers high-speed connections and an impressive list of advanced security features at a budget-friendly price. So, I was eager to test it out for myself. I carefully studied its privacy policy and thoroughly tested its speed, security features, and ability to access popular streaming services (like Netflix). I also looked into its network coverage and ease of use and put its customer ...

    Very, very satisfied

I am into my third year of using IPVanish. I am extremely happy with the speed, reliability, features ... and reliability. The fact that I have used it for this long without trying the competition speaks volumes. I am never going to try anything else because I am completely happy with what I have. Why risk it?More

Misleading, false advertising, don't honor guarantee. BEWARE

IP address and region not effectively blocked on most sites. Streaming sites do NOT work with their se... rvices, but they do not disclose that anywhere on their website. The support team had no idea in terms of technical knowledge. They claim that their 30-day guarantee is unconditional and there is no risk, but they have so many exclusions buried in their fine print that the average user would have huge difficulty finding. They advertise on many streaming how-to websites where they KNOW their services do not work. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. If I could give less than one star I would. SO unethical.More

Update: Recently, ibVPN merged with StrongVPN. We did indepth testing on StrongVPN, and you can find all the details in our review. ibVPN is a relatively small VPN, with a network of 180+ servers in 50+ countries. The name stands for "invisible browsing" VPN, and true to its name, ibVPN has a strong focus on security and privacy. This provider claims to be a great VPN for many different purpose...

Very stable, full option, the top if you look for a good privacy protection option!

I am using ibVPN for about 5 years, and I never had an issue. It perfectly works with many protocols a... llowing me to use the VPN at home (with my DD-WRT router) and in many public places, like airports, even when some port usage is restricted --> Just switching the protocol! The 24h free trial is perfect for checking if the service fits your needs. I highly recommended it!More

Some great features but a lot of drops

I'm a customer since almost 2 years, paying 2.41$ / month. Choose them for the price, no-log policy a... nd because they support upnp/port forwarding (no NAT firewall + dynamic IP on 4 servers in the Netherlands). I always had a big problem with their server: connection drops.. If I use too much bandwidth, I loose the connection and the VPN client is not able to reconnect to the server by itself (I need to reconnect it manually). Same thing happens always with torrent clients and Socks proxy: tried with different clients but after some days or a week (if I'm lucky) their servers kick me out, and a restart of the torrent client is not enough. No!! I need to change manually the server to re-start to torrenting! No problem if we are slow, for that price I'm more than happy.. but all these disconnections are very, very boring. I will stay with them till I will not find something suitable for my needs, but there's too much work from my side to stay with them forever.More

    Best VPN by category

By offering a superior network of servers, more security features, and better technical support, IPVanish provides a more reliable VPN overall. If you’re not too concerned about speed, however, ibVPN also provides a decent service with strategically located servers and a SmartDNS service integrated into its VPN.

IPVanish supports torrenting and provides high-speed servers and unlimited bandwidth for the purpose. Although ibVPN also supports torrenting, it restricts P2P activities on some of its servers.

With OpenVPN Scrambling and LAN blocking integrated into a very intuitive Windows app, IPVanish provides a very secure service that PC users can rely on. With ibVPN’s Windows app, you get tracking and malware protection in addition to access to all the provider’s servers.

IPVanish provides a dedicated Android app that automatically selects the fastest server available based on your location, along with an auto connect feature that keeps the VPN permanently on. With ibVPN’s dedicated Android app, users have access to a 24-hour free trial and automatic WiFi protection.

IPVanish’s MacOS app has an automatic IP switching feature that changes your IP address at set intervals and offers multiple VPN protocols and SmartDNS. Meanwhile, ibVPN can be easily integrated into Macs and automatically reactivates after unwanted disconnections, giving you complete privacy.

Owners of multiple iOS devices and gadgets will benefit from IPVanish’s support for up to 10 simultaneous device connections and additional features like WiFi blacklisting. The sleek-looking ibVPN app is easy to set up and supports up to five simultaneous connections.

IPVanish gives users access to over 400 fast and secure US servers for streaming Netflix and unblocking other US based websites. If all you need is US Netflix and you’re not too concerned about speed, however, ibVPN has an integrated SmartDNS feature that allows you to unblock Netflix with ease.

    The Bottom Line

Although this is not a one-sided contest, IPVanish emerges as the winner. While ibVPN offers more affordable pricing, IPVanish more than makes up for the cost difference by providing more features, a bigger network with faster servers, and twice as many simultaneous connections per subscription. With IPVanish, you can enjoy streaming in HD without buffering and also rest assured that your identity stays hidden thanks to top-level encryption and tracking protection. Responsive customer service with knowledgeable agents provides yet another reason to give IPVanish a try.
