Choosing a winner between Singapore-based Ivacy and Romania-based ibVPN is quite challenging, especially when these two providers share similar features. Both Ivacy and ibVPN use strong 256-bit encryption, support P2P, offer multiple protocols, include kill switches and split tunneling in their apps, and provide adequate live chat support. Neither VPN keeps activity logs, and both have impressive geoblock bypassing capabilities, dedicated apps for all major platforms and consoles, and support for up to five simultaneous connections per subscription. So how are they different, and which is better? For starters, Ivacy has 1,000+ servers in 100+ locations worldwide, giving it an edge over ibVPN’s array of 100+ servers across 50+ locations. Moreover, Ivacy secures your connection against identity theft and IPv6 leaks without compromising overall performance. While ibVPN has impressive security features of its own, such as double VPN and Tor over VPN for greater anonymity, these features come at the cost of speed and reliability. What’s more, if you’re in China, you may need to tinker around with manual configurations to get the best out of ibVPN. Finally, while ibVPN offers a greater variety of packages at cheap prices, Ivacy offers all-inclusive plans, also at low cost.

Ivacy is a long-running VPN with some of the cheapest subscriptions around. It also offers a popular free version and an extensive server network with many rare locations. But is it actually safe or trustworthy with your data? After all my tests, I’ve concluded that Ivacy is a solid option but not at the top VPN level. It offers above-average speeds and adequate security; the free version is...

Not sure where all these negative thoughts come from.

Never had a problem connecting my desktop pooters with Ivacy. Had minor problem connecting my IOS devi... ce to my dedicated European IP but that was soon sorted. I daresay most of the negativity comes from the younger generation who have no patience. Staff at Ivacy who helped this 75yr old were awesome and ever helpful. Keep at it guys! I'd give them 9.5.More

    Terrible support

I was a customer 6 years ago. They still email me frequently, despite me unsubscribing many times and ... reaching out to their customer support 8+ times. If Ivacy can't get this right then I wouldn't trust any other promise that they make.More

Update: Recently, ibVPN merged with StrongVPN. We did indepth testing on StrongVPN, and you can find all the details in our review. ibVPN is a relatively small VPN, with a network of 180+ servers in 50+ countries. The name stands for "invisible browsing" VPN, and true to its name, ibVPN has a strong focus on security and privacy. This provider claims to be a great VPN for many different purposes, ...

Very stable, full option, the top if you look for a good privacy protection option!

I am using ibVPN for about 5 years, and I never had an issue. It perfectly works with many protocols a... llowing me to use the VPN at home (with my DD-WRT router) and in many public places, like airports, even when some port usage is restricted --> Just switching the protocol! The 24h free trial is perfect for checking if the service fits your needs. I highly recommended it!More

Some great features but a lot of drops

I'm a customer since almost 2 years, paying 2.41$ / month. Choose them for the price, no-log policy a... nd because they support upnp/port forwarding (no NAT firewall + dynamic IP on 4 servers in the Netherlands). I always had a big problem with their server: connection drops.. If I use too much bandwidth, I loose the connection and the VPN client is not able to reconnect to the server by itself (I need to reconnect it manually). Same thing happens always with torrent clients and Socks proxy: tried with different clients but after some days or a week (if I'm lucky) their servers kick me out, and a restart of the torrent client is not enough. No!! I need to change manually the server to re-start to torrenting! No problem if we are slow, for that price I'm more than happy.. but all these disconnections are very, very boring. I will stay with them till I will not find something suitable for my needs, but there's too much work from my side to stay with them forever.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

There’s no doubt that Ivacy and ibVPN both offer excellent services, with plenty of features at a bargain. While ibVPN provides strong anonymity protection and versatile security features, Ivacy ultimately sneaks ahead with its larger server network and more reliable performance.

    Best VPN for Torrents

A good VPN for torrenting features a high level of privacy as well as fast and stable servers. Although both Ivacy VPN and ibVPN support torrenting on specialized servers, Ivacy’s bigger network gives you a better chance in finding a sufficiently fast server near you. In addition, with ibVPN, you’re more likely to experience connection problems.

    Best VPN for Windows

Ivacy and ibVPN have native apps for Windows with similar features, including a kill switch and split tunneling. At the end of the day, it all comes down to performance, and Ivacy’s Windows app gives you a wider range of servers to choose from for faster and more reliable connections.

    Best VPN for Android

Ivacy VPN and ibVPN offer similar Android clients. Both have built-in IPv6 leak protection and automatic server selection. However, only Ivacy’s app has a kill switch. In addition, Ivacy’s Android client has a split-tunneling feature that you won’t find with ibVPN. And when it comes to connection stability and overall performance, Ivacy takes the lead.

    Best VPN for Mac

These two VPNs offer client apps for Mac with simple, user-friendly interfaces. Both support OpenVPN among multiple other security protocols, but neither app includes a kill switch. Ivacy for Mac stretches ahead with sturdier performance and a wider server selection.

    Best VPN for iOS

While Ivacy’s iOS app supports only the IKEv2 and IPSec protocols, ibVPN offers one of the few iOS VPN clients that support OpenVPN, eliminating the need for third-party apps. However, Ivacy for iOS includes more advanced features, such as split tunneling. Neither app has a kill switch, but both can be used on five different iOS devices simultaneously.

    Best VPN for USA

Both Ivacy and ibVPN have their fair share of server locations within the US. However, if you’re using ibVPN in notoriously restricted regions such as China, you will need to get your hands dirty and connect to a US server manually. With Ivacy VPN, on the other hand, you can connect to US servers from anywhere in the world instantly. Both VPNs can access American geoblocked services such as Netflix and Hulu, but if you’re looking for better connection speeds to US servers, then Ivacy VPN would be the way to go.

    The Bottom Line

Both VPNs are good choices for beginners, thanks to their advanced encryption, ease of use, numerous features, and affordable packages. However, Ivacy comes out ahead in the end for its more expansive server network, steadier performance, and superior ability to slip through tough firewalls. Meanwhile, ibVPN still faces issues in heavily censored locations such as China and Iran, and suffers from frequent connection drops worldwide. Yet even though Ivacy is the clear winner of this contest, if you compare it with elite services like NordVPN, you will find that Ivacy still has a lot to work on.
