Update: Recently, ibVPN merged with StrongVPN. We did indepth testing on StrongVPN, and you can find all the details in our review. ibVPN is a relatively small VPN, with a network of 180+ servers in 50+ countries. The name stands for "invisible browsing" VPN, and true to its name, ibVPN has a strong focus on security and privacy. This provider claims to be a great VPN for many different purposes, ...

Very stable, full option, the top if you look for a good privacy protection option!

I am using ibVPN for about 5 years, and I never had an issue. It perfectly works with many protocols a... llowing me to use the VPN at home (with my DD-WRT router) and in many public places, like airports, even when some port usage is restricted --> Just switching the protocol! The 24h free trial is perfect for checking if the service fits your needs. I highly recommended it!More

Some great features but a lot of drops

I'm a customer since almost 2 years, paying 2.41$ / month. Choose them for the price, no-log policy a... nd because they support upnp/port forwarding (no NAT firewall + dynamic IP on 4 servers in the Netherlands). I always had a big problem with their server: connection drops.. If I use too much bandwidth, I loose the connection and the VPN client is not able to reconnect to the server by itself (I need to reconnect it manually). Same thing happens always with torrent clients and Socks proxy: tried with different clients but after some days or a week (if I'm lucky) their servers kick me out, and a restart of the torrent client is not enough. No!! I need to change manually the server to re-start to torrenting! No problem if we are slow, for that price I'm more than happy.. but all these disconnections are very, very boring. I will stay with them till I will not find something suitable for my needs, but there's too much work from my side to stay with them forever.More

ZenMate has been a popular VPN for 10+ years, especially with its free browser extensions. It offers low prices and many appealing features like streaming servers and fast speeds. But none of this matters if it can’t keep you safe, so I decided to find out if it really can. After my tests, I can say ZenMate is a safe VPN offering great value. It works great for streaming, has fast speeds at cl...

    Good experience

No matter your location, using a VPN is important for your online security. I got ZenMate for exactly ... that and I am satisfied with it, especially when it constantly improves its service. Customer support helped me so much and I just wanted to say that I've asked for their help a few times. And every time the support was respectful and fast in their response time. Keep it up!More

    Buggy and Unreliable

Good when it works, with a limited number of available servers. However, 1. Does not always connect ... to the fastest server. 2. On the Mac, it does not automatically connect to a server. 3. On iOS, it does connect automatically BUT does not do so consistently. 4. The Mac app has been buggy and not connecting at all, FOR MONTHS. They still have not fixed it.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

By integrating a SmartDNS proxy into its service alongside very advanced security measures and a dedicated streaming feature, ibVPN provides a very powerful VPN service overall. ZenMate also provides an innovative service with feature-rich, cross-platform apps.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Between these two providers, we recommend ibVPN as the ideal VPN for downloading torrents without restrictions. Note, however, that the provider does not allow P2P file-sharing activities on its US servers. ZenMate also allows torrenting on its servers, but based on its privacy policy, we cannot guarantee that ZenMate does not store activity logs.

    Best VPN for Windows

Apart from a beautiful user interface, the best things about ibVPN’s dedicated app for Windows are its strong encryption and the availability of a kill switch. There is also a SmartDNS service fully integrated into the app. ZenMate’s service for Windows features a dedicated app that includes malware and DNS leak protection.

    Best VPN for Android

With ibVPN, you get a dedicated Android app with a user-friendly layout that includes a dedicated streaming feature and support for multiple VPN protocols. The best things about ZenMate for Android are its strong encryption and tracking and wi-fi protection.

    Best VPN for Mac

StealthVPN, Tor over VPN, Double VPN encryption, and many other advanced security features are readily available in ibVPN’s service for MacOS. ZenMate, however, competes with a MacOS app that’s easy to set up and includes malware protection and 256-bit encryption.

    Best VPN for iOS

With ibVPN’s service for iOS, you get access to the provider’s entire network, along with features like protection from third-party tracking and wi-fi hacking. ZenMate also provides a reliable dedicated app for iOS devices that includes access to a kill switch and leak protection.

    Best VPN for USA

By providing high-speed, dedicated servers that capably unblock Netflix-US and over 300 other streaming platforms, ibVPN offers an effective and reliable service for the USA. ZenMate competes with a solid VPN service for the USA that unblocks Netflix and similar geoblocked websites from any location worldwide.

    The Bottom Line

ZenMate puts up a good fight and appears to provide a very similar service to ibVPN at first glance. However, ibVPN’s provision of a built-in SmartDNS feature, StealthVPN, and advanced Double VPN encryption allows it to solidly clinch the title of winner of this comparison. Higher speeds and a proven ability to break through hard-to-crack geo-restrictions are additional points in ibVPN’s favor, though not enough to put it on the same tier as truly elite services like NordVPN.
