    Best alternative to StrongVPN

    Our Score: 9.9

For uninterrupted access to your favorite streaming platforms, like Netflix or Disney+, you can’t go wrong with ExpressVPN. With 3,000 servers in 105 countries, ExpressVPN offers superb speeds for UHD streaming. Plus, it’s based in the British Virgin Islands, has an audited no-logs policy, and offers obfuscated servers, giving you private and unrestricted access to the internet.

Located in the US, SaferVPN may not seem like the best choice for privacy heads as it keeps connection logs. This notwithstanding, SaferVPN offers affordable standard and premium packages, the option to pay using bitcoin, as well as a 24-hour free trial and a 14-day money-back guarantee covering its service.

It boasts over 950 servers across 35 countries, including in Africa and Asia. SaferVPN supports the OpenVPN protocol with AES-256 encryption as well as a unique WiFi security feature. But, speeds are shifty at best, and streaming Netflix is close to impossible.

VyprVPN, on the other hand, claims to be the fastest VPN in the world, and it’s not far off with some impressive speeds. While the prices are above average and VyprVPN does not accept bitcoins, its location in Switzerland guarantees ultimate security and privacy. VyprVPN also has more than 700 servers in over 70 locations.

Both VPNs offer cross-platform compatibility and solid customer support via live chat, making them convenient to use. However, neither can deliver quite the same standard of service as our top VPN, ExpressVPN.

    Terrible service

SaferVPN has terrible service. It is an Israeli-based company but for some reason, their Israeli node ... is missing for a while now. Their answer: "The Israel servers are under maintenance at the moment. It shall be back soon, I request you to please allow us some time." One has to wonder about a company that has no failover and takes weeks if not longer to bring up a server. If they had any competence or care, they could have brought up a new server within hours and a virtual one in half an hour. Gives you an idea of how bad they are. Stay away from this company and take your money somewhere else.More

VyprVPN has been top-class for years. It’s known for its powerful security features, fast speeds, and compatibility with Mac, Android, iOS, and more. But recently, I've seen many people claim that the service has gaps in its online protection. So, I carried out in-depth tests to see if VyprVPN is safe. I began by testing its security features and deep diving into its privacy policy. I also put ...

    Chameleon is Amazing

I tried CyberGhost, Express, and Nord VPN over the last month. None of these were able to get by my in... stitution's Fortigate Firewall doing Deep Packet Inspection scanning. They are using some sort of Obfuscation technique but they were not good enough. I read about VyprVpn's Chameleon protocol. YES... It worked !!!! I do have to sacrifice speed but at least I get outside access. When I am out of that environment, I switch back to Wireguard and the speed increases 300%. The price is great, their Live chat was great when I questioned their own DNS servers. They were easy to reach with the chat and took the time to explain how their DNS servers worked. I highly recommend VyprVPN !!!More

    I don't have time to...

The company behind VyprVPN, Goldenfrog claims to have taken steps to improve its reliability, security... , and quality of service. I'm not sure when they said this, however, in 2022, reliability and QoS are going downhill quickly. I've been using Vypr for over a year with the software installed and executing on each PC. Everything worked relatively well until about three months ago when I began experiencing frequent and intermittent connectivity issues. Thinking that my 10-year-old router might be the cause, I installed a new TPLink router with all the latest technology After many hours of side-by-side testing with two computers on the same LAN, I have observed that a PC with the VPN turned off had 100% connectivity while a PC using Vypr had the issues. I have adjusted Vypr to use various protocols and TAP adaptors with no success in improving the QoS. As such, I'm convinced that my PCs and LAN are operating as they should. Further, from the beginning, I configured Vypr to always connect to a server in Canada. Every time I boot my PC I use "whatismyip.com" to make sure that the PC is operating through the Vypr. About half the time it connects to a server in the USA and yet the software says that it is connected to Canada. I use a couple of business online services with geolocation services that require a Canada connection so I also know when Vypr connects to the USA when I am blocked from logging in to one of the business services. IT's really annoying when the software says it's connected to Canada and yet it is not. The biggest annoyance is that I now find I have to check my external IP every time I boot a device. Why should I have to do this? I've used other VPNs and they just worked all the time. I never had to keep checking them to make sure they are working correctly. I've also done security testing to make sure there are no IP or DNS leaks or any other issues and it appears that Vypr lives up to its reputation of being secure. If the service would operate consistently so that I don't have to always check it or disconnect and reconnect to force a Canada server, I could give Vypr 5 stars. Overall it's not a bad service, however, if the QoS continues to degrade, I may be forced to go back to one of the other VPNs that I've used. I don't have time to "handhold" VyprVPN.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

While SaferVPN is our overall top pick, neither VPN clearly outperformed the other. SaferVPN is a simple VPN tool with robust security for those who want a hassle-free experience. VyprVPN is a slightly more advanced platform but still has modern and intuitive apps.

    Best VPN for Torrents

While both providers support P2P activities, VyprVPN is our overall favorite thanks to its fast speeds. VyprVPN has also greatly expanded its server network, offering more options for torrenters to find one near them.

    Best VPN for Windows

Both SaferVPN and VyprVPN offer simple and effective VPN apps for Windows. However, if I had to choose, I’d go with SaferVPN because its interface is easier to navigate, especially for new VPN users. However, both offer a selection of reliable protocols with a built-in kill switch, so your traffic and data will be protected.

    Best VPN for Android

SaferVPN offers a simple and intuitive experience on mobile, exactly what you want if you have a busy lifestyle. Its Wi-Fi protection feature will also help keep you safe on the go.

    Best VPN for Mac

With IP leak protection, a kill switch, and intuitive apps for both, picking a winner wasn’t easy. We still feel that SaferVPN’s desktop design is the most accessible, making it our pick. However, some will be more attracted to VyprVPN’s robust security and privacy features.

    Best VPN for iOS

With not much to choose between the two, we have to give this round to SaferVPN thanks to it allowing slightly more simultaneous device connections. This means you’ll be able to secure more of your iOS gadgets at the same time or share its protection with others in your household.

    Best VPN for USA

Thanks to being able to access some US streaming platforms, like Netflix, VyprVPN is our winner in this category. However, both are based in the US itself, which isn’t ideal from a privacy perspective.

    The Bottom Line

When security, privacy, and price competitiveness are considered, SaferVPN comes out a winner. This client boasts strong encryption, a knowledgeable and responsive customer support team, DNS protection, and a kill switch for additional security. An impressive bonus is its WiFi protection that activates the VPN when an unsecured WiFi network is accessed. SaferVPN supports P2P sharing and boasts excellent cross-platform compatibility with Android, Windows, macOS, and iOS.

While SaferVPN came out on top in our comparison, it’s no longer available. Although it was a decent VPN, it still doesn’t come close to the level of service offered by ExpressVPN. With a server network that’s multiple times larger than SaferVPN, it offers faster and more reliable connections with access to content in UHD. Plus, its commitment to privacy is unquestionable, with an audited no-logs policy. That makes it our choice to game, stream, or torrent conveniently, without having to worry about your activity being exposed.
